General Health Checks
We recommend all pets have annual health check-ups. These provide a good opportunity to pick problems up early and to discuss your pets nutrition, preventative health care and any concerns with your vet.
At TopVets we recommend that all pets should be vaccinated regularly. Fortunately many diseases of dogs and cats can be prevented by vaccination and regular vaccines are the best way to guard your pet against disease. Many kennels and catteries require vaccinations to be up to date before your pet can stay with them. Call us today to schedule your pets vaccination. For more information on vaccinations check out our article in the news library.
At TopVets we recommend de-sexing your pet at 6 months of age if you are not intending to breed from them. The procedure involves a day stay and there are numerous advantages for both male and female cats and dogs.
Puppy pre-school is a great way to introduce basic training in a fun and casual environment. Our vet nurse, Donna Badorek runs the classes. Advice is given on behaviour and basic training and puppy pre-school provides pups with the opportunity to socialise with other pups and other people. Classes usually run one evening per week for four weeks.
Both Kaitaia and Coopers Beach clinics have dedicated surgical facilities and preparation areas. We have purpose built cages for day stay patients and those that require longer hospital care. Our Kaitaia Clinic is equipped with Xray facilities ,Ultrasound and an isolation ward. Blood sampling can be undertaken at both of our clinics. The samples are then sent away to a specialist veterinary laboratory in Hamilton for analysis. Urine analysis can be done inhouse.
We offer microchipping services for dogs and cats. Dogs must be microchipped prior to registration with the FNDC. We also offer membership to the New Zealand Companion Animal Register.
