A little bit about us


TopVets opened it’s doors in Kaitaia in mid 1999 and services Farm and Small animal clients from the Cape to Mangonui and Kaikohe in the south.

Our Coopers beach clinic opened in 2006 and provides Veterinary services to the East coast community.

Tayla Trail

Tayla originally from Rotorua joined Topvets in May of 2016 as a receptionist. Her family farming background has helped her create a great rapport with clients and staff.  Tayla loves the Far North lifestyle and is a keen hiker.

Xian Koid

Koid completed his vet degree at Massey University in 2015 and is the latest addition to the TopVets team. Originally from Malaysia, Koid loves the great outdoors and enjoys tramping in the weekends. He is also keen to explore what the Far North has to offer for fishing.

Anna Parsonson

Anna joined the TopVets team in April of 2015.  Anna has studied for and completed her Certificate in Veterinary Nursing at Otago Polytechnic.  She completed alot of her onsite training with Topvets in 2012 & 2013.

Specialisation: Vet Nurse/Receptionist

Lloyd Wilkie

Lloyd graduated to Kaitaia in late 1984, and has practiced here ever since apart from 4 years working overseas and in Whangarei. Special interests : Dairy and beef practice, and small animal orthopaedics. Hobbies : Fishing, diving, hunting, golf.

Specialisation: Veterinarian BVSc. Practise Owner


Andy Smythe

A Massey graduate, Andy has been practicing for over 30 years and has been in the Far North for nearly two years.  Andy joined the Top Vets team from Kaitaia Vets in June 2013.  Originally from the Wellington area, Andy is enjoying the Far North lifestyle and in his spare time likes kayak fishing.

Specialisation: Veterinarian BVSc

Annette Hall

Annette joined the TopVets team in 2010 and runs the Coopers beach clinic. Interests include: running Far North Coastguard radio, fishing,    tourism & hospitality, community projects.

Specialisation: Receptionist Coopers Beach

Donna Badorek

Donna joined the TopVets team in early 2013, and is a qualified Veterinary Nurse.  Donna moved up to the Far North to be closer to family and to start her studies to become a Veterinary Technician.

Specialisation: Vet Nurse

Casey Wilton

Casey joined the Top Vets team from Kaitaia Vets in June 2013 and is a qualified Veterinary Nurse.

Jessica Clark

Jess graduated from Massey University in 2015, and is excited to be joining the team here at TopVets. Originally from the United States, Jess is keen to explore the far north after a decade in the lower North Island. Jess’s interests include horse-riding, rowing, and dry-land dog mushing.
